Today in China they had the Virus uncontrol. On day new infections for two weeks running. Many other countries, Italy, Spain, Germany and so on have likewise reduced the spread to R0.7 or less. That as we know is not the case in USA closely followed by now Brazil and then the UK. Of course, these three countries have one thing in common: populist leaders who wasted weeks if not months denying, belittling the virus. The world is at 5.4 million known infections with 345k deaths.
The only innovative item I came across today was a tweet on the UK training dogs to sniff out Coronavirus. How cool is that? This could have a huge impact on travel; imagine having virus sniff dogs at airports upon departure and arrival/ I rather like the idea.
Today was a cool day with the sun barely breaking through the clouds so ideal for me to get to some projects I had planned to attend to for a while. EM in the meantime met with three friends to hike the Billy Goat Trail. It appears they were not the only ones who thought it would be a good way to spend a Sunday.
Anyway, I oiled all of the outside furniture, something I probably should have done at the beginning f spring and never really managed to work yup the energy to do. Likewise with my spice jars. In Istanbul I painted all of their lids blue to match the kitchen tiles, and even though they are now invisible in a cupboard I no longer like the color much. After spending yesterday stripping the old paint and doing the top of the lids I finished the rims of the 35 or so lids. I have a sense they may need a second coat. I shall decide in the morning. The grey is unobtrusive and matches my back splash. After all of these chores I sadly needed to take a nap on the loveseat.
Given the coolish weather instead of taking a boat out we ended up doing the grocery run. I have plans for a Memorial Day BBQ so go some steaks for which I made a marinade with garlic and Mediterranean herbs from my kitchen garden. Will probably do some millies and a Greek salad to with it tomorrow, when it is supposed to be nice and sunny, so perfect for a BBQ. If I do not get stuck reading in the morning we might even head down to the marina for bit of a sail.
