Last night ended with a crazy thunderstorm and torrential rainfall. Today the world is shiny and bright, a hot summer day with blue skies and a crescendo in the air. The Cicadas are making sure they are heard.
Otherwise, an unspectacular day. Life is returning to normal.
As of tomorrow, at 6:00 Montgomery County will fully reopen, and all business can operate at full capacity. Masks must be worn in any health care facilities, schools and public transport as well as all public buildings. Masks are encouraged inside and those not vaccinated should wear masks in all settings. I doubt they will. However, over 60% of residents have received one and 51% both shots, mostly BioNTech and Moderna, which is higher than the USA and the Maryland average where comparable numbers are 51% and 39% respectively. New infections are down, with 23k reported over the past twenty-four hours, as are hospitalizations showing the vaccines are working. This is excellent news.
Total infections are at 33,98 million since the beginning of the pandemic. Total death are at 606.000 for the USA, which is about three times the flu fatalities in 2019.
As we return to normalcy this blog will end. I will miss the routine and structure the daily news forage and writing have given me. I know, I will not have the time I have had over the past 443 days going forward as I will commit myself to Aikido. With the daily swim, work and social activities my life shall return to busy. Once work travel resumes it will revert to crazy busy as half of my time is likely spend on the road. So, tomorrow will be my final post.
Tomorrow is also EM’s final day in high school and her secondary education will be complete. An area of sorts comes to an end.
