Yesterday’s frustrations have been overcome. The discussion I moderated earlier in the day went very well and we received a lot of positive feedback. Two of the presenters have their companies feature in the Handbook I have now been amusing myself with for what is going into the third year. Turns out other than myself no one has heard of this auspicious publications’ committee. When I pointed out that it was not even mentioned in the communications guidelines these were quickly revised to now include a mandatory committee review. So far, I am the only recipient of these revised guidelines. As far as I am concerned the book is done, edited, designed and ready to be published. I have made my peace and will just wait and see what happens. The new mantra: Let It Go.

The mason finished work on the patio, and it looks lovely. The worker was so friendly and even added one more line when I asked for it. I am so glad I decided to have it done as it makes the space so much more usable. I was hoping to inaugurate it tonight with a colleague and his wife, but alas their little one is unwell so drinks will need to be postponed.

Fittingly the Aikidoka will now be the first to be entertained in the new space. I am rather nervous about the dinner as I am not sure how the fish turned out and I haven’t made a potjekie in decades. Plus, I need to fit the cooking between Aikido practice and my swim. Thankfully EM’s plans to head to Ocean City with her BF on Saturday have been moved to Sunday so I have her to help. I might just chop all the ingredients the day before so I can have them cook for 3-4 hours. I will then have to fuss about the flan and setting it all up only. At least the South African beverages I have ordered have arrived in time. The beer, cider and Pinotage were delivered today.

For the past year or so I have been coloring a strand of hair purple. The dye I had been using for some inexplicable reason stopped holding. I am wondering if it got to hot over the summer or is too old. One way or the other I threw it out and ordered a different one which arrived yesterday. So after today’s visit to the pool I tried it on a strand. It sure is bright and as far as the fingers are concerned the color holds! Let’s see for how long it will stay in the hair given my daily pool exposure.

In terms of focusing on what really matters; it is time to place orders for yearbooks and take out ads. I have decided to pay for a full page for EM. This is going to be such a tough year for the seniors and they deserve credit and acknowledgement. I am so proud of EM and how she and her friends handle this new life of theirs. At the same time I continue to hope life will go back to how we knew it 189 days ago. Especially for them. If we had a vaccine, our children could enjoy a carefree time at university. They are young, they should not be depraved of social interactions and fun times.

Of course, the COVIDIOT in chief does nothing to mitigate the spread. Rules applying to everyone else clearly do not apply to him. Indoor rallies? Large numbers of unmasked people? It makes me want to call out to the Rona to come and spread amongst those folks. I am seriously worried that the moron in chief will be reelected. Those people who back him are in no way rational. Infections today are at 29.7 million worldwide and over 6.8 million in the US. Today the country has passed the 200k mark, reporting 201k dead. So sad.
