It is book club night.
The last book club had ben on Zoom only. Now it is warm and pleasant outside so two of my friends will brave it and join me in my garden. maintaining proper social distance of course, while the others will connect via Zoom.
I am almost getting an overdose of socializing; Danielle and family yesterday and Marsha and Barbara today. Followed again by nothing for weeks on end of course. In celebration and because of the book EM and I made some sushi. It is surprisingly easy, unless one burns the rice that is.
The day went by super quickly, most of it spend on the phone and dealing with emails. Somehow, we even did not manage to go on our walk through the Hood which is not a good thing seeing we will have more food tonight. Also I did not find time to follow the news. Suffice to say numbers are still going up and the world today has over 5.5. miilion known cases with 1.7 million in the US and the USA has passed the death toll of 100k with experts thinking this number is understated by about 30k. This is derived by looking at average mortality month on month last year versus this year. Based on these statistics roughly 2.000 more people died every day of the year this than last year. These numbers are so devastating. At the same time people are getting really fed up. This is an understandable but dangerous development. Already there are new spikes in some areas.
On a happy note someone posted this video of a person deciding to install a bird feeder and begin bird watching. The squirrels were super creative in getting to the bird food, no matter how squirrel safe the feeder supposedly was. Watch the 20 minute video of a bird watcher turned squirrel watcher who build a parcourse for the squirrels to navigate before they could reach a reward of walnuts. It took the squirrels very little time to figure out how to navigate all the different hurdle, clearly they are very clever little creatures. This is the best corona entertainment ever.
