As we had hoped our COVID tests came back negative today. EM’s friend A came for lunch and the girls spend the afternoon in their classes together keeping each other company. The minute we had the results the masks came of and they moved inside! Given A’s family is our bubble family this is fine. Now EM has left to see her BF.
I shall head to see the girls in about an hour. We are more distanced meeting around the firepit 6 feet apart. It may not be quite as fun as in the past as firstly we have two other ladies joining and our hostess has a new partner who is also coming. So, this is unlikely a true ladies’ night as we have promised to be on good behavior. Certainly, no discussing what douche bags men can be. With recent events though I am reasonably sure the discussion will be on current events and do hope politics is okay. I find it hard to imagine anyone in my friend group dating a Trumpster; then again, my daughter does, though I think the young man has no idea what he is doing. He is just brain washed. One way or another, I am looking forward to seeing my friends. It was nice to be with mum, but I feel I have now been locked up for months! Just hoping it will not rain. There has been a bit of a drizzle, but it has now stopped.
Given clean bill of health I shall head to the park for practice tomorrow and I have booked a lap lane for afterwards. EM will go to Mount Vernon tomorrow afternoon to celebrate the birthday of her BF’s stepfather. I will probably hit the reopened and now COVID free Stosnider and maybe I will find other ways to entertain myself. I could ask L. if she feels like hanging out by the firepit in the evening or possibly M.
The USA is now at 24 million reported cases and has registered 400k death. It continues to lead the world with number of infections. It now also has its very own mutant, highly transmissible of course. The CDC is concerned it could become the dominant string by March and drive infections to ever new heights.
At least MD is making good progress on the vaccine front. They are no immunizing up to 65-yearolds and essential workers, including teachers. So, there is a glimmer of hope. Albeit other parts of the country are not doing so well mainly because of poor planning. As a result, some precious doses end up in the bin.
Here I thought air purifiers with Hepa filters would cost hundreds. Turns out Amazon sells them for just under $80 a piece....
Very tempted to buy a couple.
