Concert in the Park

Another beautiful day of course.

I had taken the afternoon of, just because. With my lap lane at 13:00 and my sailing date at 14:30 it did not seem feasible to work the afternoon. I managed to shower and change at the Y and then drove directly to the Marina to meet C for an afternoon on the water.

What a gorgeous day, cloudy, but warm and the sun honored us ever so often. Two hours on the water are like a week of vacation.

From the Marina I rushed home, donned some make up, grabbed a picnic blanket, a bottle of vino verde and a few glasses before picking up my French neighbors. Together we walk to the Brookdale neighborhood park to enjoy a concert by a Mariachi band which the Brookdale folks had organized. It was a lovely outing during which I connected with the mums organizing the IBDP graduate picnic as well as our newly acquired Spanish friends from las t night. I had a lot of fun in the park.

Incidentally it is the same park where the picnic is to be held next Saturday. It is a lovely space, however when we planned the picnic, we did not think about the Cicadas which are to descend upon us shortly. Some students have already said they will not come because of them. I am now praying that they will stay in the ground for another week so we can enjoy a peaceful outdoor event to celebrate our IB graduates! The past year has just been uncooperative on every level and I feel we all deserve a break even if just for a day.

New infections reported are slightly up at 40k over the past twenty-four hours.
