I had taken the day of work today, still it ended up being a busy day.
First up a workshop on partnerships for financial inclusion. That took a fair chunk of my morning. Followed by a call. I untangled myself from work around 10:30, when EM and I headed downtown to the bank. She now has an adult bank account and I hold a notarized medical power of attorney so I can be informed and continue to look out for her.
After a brief stop at Trader Joes I dropped her at a friends’ house for aquarelle painting and made it to the pool just in time for my lane at 13:00. I spoke to a friend while soaking up some sun in the garden before picking up EM. We had friends over for an Easter lunch-dinner event. My leg of lamb had been roasting for six hours and it was nice and tender, falling of the bone. We served this with Thyme-Garlic roasted potatoes, green beans and spaghetti squash. It was a very enjoyable meal and just as we were wrapping up friends stopped by for a glass of wine. A real Easter feast with lovely company. Now we have leftovers to feed us for a few days, fortunately with plenty of gravy!
By 20:00 everyone had departed, and I hopped onto a call with the alternative Prom committee. We are in business. The Prom on the Mall is happening. I think it will be a fun event and I hope our Seniors will enjoy it. There will be music, flowers, a photographer and canopy tents. All in all, a day filled with activity, just how I like it.
More and more of my friends and acquaintances have received their first shot. The roll out in the USA is definitely working. And as of May 1 every US resident is eligible for an inoculation. Now media is now focusing on what to eat and drink to minimize side effects and strengthen the immune response. A low glucose, probiotic diet is recommended.
The latest Corona hotspot is now India with infections rising steeply fueled by political rallies, weddings and social gatherings.IT reads like where we have just come from, 100k new cases per day.
Meanwhile in the USA reported infections are coming down with “just” 45k reported over the past twenty -fur hours to bring the total to 31.4 million. Some States though are under reporting and testing has declined, so who knows how accurate these numbers are.
More good news on the vaccine front. Science is simply amazing. A new vaccine, more potent and easier to manufacture is in phase one trials. This new coronavirus vaccine, NVD-HXP-S, uses a new molecular design that is widely expected to create more potent antibodies than the current generation of vaccines, while also being cheaper and easier to make.
Maybe, just maybe this misery of a life will end in a few months .
