Second Gym

Today ended up being unexpectedly busy with calls from 8:00 through to 16:00 and as a result a number of things I had been planning to get to did not get done. Oh well, tomorrow is another day. At least I did manage to clean up my email inbox (which is how I know which things I did not get around to doing). Given we see light at the end of the strategy tunnel there was a lot of positive energy; not sure though what I will do when I no longer have a call with this group from noon until 14:00 or so.

I did given the back-up pool another try today; seeing I did not have lane at the Y and my waitlist request did not come through. Turns out the back-up pool is far less booked as was offered a choice of available lanes between 15:45 and 18:15; opting for the latter as EM had taken the car to shop for a birthday present for the BF who has invited her for dinner tomorrow night. That will make for an almost hectic day given we have a family lane at 16:00 and then I go for practice in the park at 18:30 after dropping her with at the BF’s house. I finally get to see where he resides.

The BF had been mocking our Floh, saying he would not fit into the car and never drive with EM in it. Turns out that has changed. When no other transport was available and Floh was the only option of they went. And now he loves our little speedy Gonzales! It is a fun car and sometimes gets me the smile from the odd stranger, like today when heading home form the gym, the guy in the car next to me flashed a big smile and a thumbs up. So nice when one receives rather arbitrary but friendly exchanges.

Worldwide death have surpassed the 1 million mark and total infections are at 31.1 million cases, with the USA reporting 7 million. Virus news coming out of Europe does not bode well. After people travelled during the summer season and partied, new infections are on the rise. I worry about mum having become complacent. Yes, she always only sees the same people, but she is out and about quite a bit. At least she is using the Corona App and told me there has not been a single alert that she has been close to anyone who tested positive. I really need to download the Maryland version of the App! As numbers in Europe rise more lockdowns or restrictions are expected to be enforced again.

The virus is here to stay, better get used to this , vaccine or no vaccine, we will need to live with the risk of infection. At least doctors seem to be getting a better handle on treatments, as the death toll in Europe is decreasing amidst increasing infections. There is also more information on the vaccines under development including pros and cons. Nothing really novel. However, a group of African American doctors has formed to test vaccines and review results, which is another indication of distrust in the FDA and the CDC under Trump, and rightly so. The CDC is actively undermining it’s on credibility at an alarming rate, or should we say is being undermined? Updated guidelines on the virus spread were posted to its website on Friday, today they have been pulled again supposedly a draft version was posted in error. Or was the error maybe posting facts which the moron in chief objected too?
