Today was a perfectly pleasant day. I started the morning with yet another cleaning outfit giving me a quote and refusing to do laundry as ironing takes too much time. Jennifer has not even left the country yet and already I miss her!
We then headed out towards Baltimore as I had it in my mind that apple picking might be fun. It was really hard to find a farm. Most farms do not have pick your own, mainly due to frost early in May, which has resulted in a lack of apples. We ended up at the one farm open within a 70 mile radius. Of course, I should have known that it would be busy. Anyway, we spend 45 minutes in line to get tickets to go to the orchard, where we lost ourselves among the trees. We ended up with three different types of apples; two which I liked, and one which EM went after. We came how with a selection of Mutsu (mine), Cameo (hers) and one whose name I fail to remember, but which is the oldest type they grow.
The orchard was super busy. Thankfully almost everyone was diligent about wearing a mask. Our friend arrived just as we returned from apple picking. We enjoyed lunch together on a lawn before making our way back to DC. It took us 20 minutes just to leave the farm, but we made it back in time for me to swim courtesy of EM driving at an almost reckless speed.
Total reported infections in the USA today reach 7.6 million. Worldwide 35 million have been reported. The death toll in the USA now exceeds 214k. Infections continue to increase and are now, as predicted on Labor Day, spiking again; with reported daily new infections well over 54k. It all goes back to the same old: wearing masks, maintaining social distance. How freaking hard can this be? Very it appears when scaning the news, which is all about wearing masks, or the lack thereof.
If memory serves right schools in NYC reopened two weeks ago. After all that the city has been through you would think people got the message about doing anything they can to avoid the spread. Well they don’t and now schools are closing again in all hot spot locations. How idiotic can people be? Especially if these people are part of communities hardest hit the first time around?
I find myself getting very antsy and impatient with people not wearing masks, so I can absolutely relate to this story. I appreciate the advice that yelling at them will not change their behavior. So offering a mask maybe a very nice work around.
It is hard to convince people that masks are essential when the presidential campaign still mocks Vice President Joe Biden for wearing a mask in public. Just another level of stupid given the Covidiot in chief is currently in residence at Walter Reed Military hospital. This did not stop him from forcing some poor driver to be in a car with him so he could show himself to supporters camped in front of the hospital. The Joker is irresponsible beyond belief and so inconsiderate to put other people at risk like that. But then they are only despicable workers. This seems to apply to his advisors also. The entire entourage of the orange Cheeto refused to wear masks at the presidential debate. They should just have been asked to leave if they find it so hard to follow the rules.
Not sure why Chris Wallace is ranting about it a week after the fact. As far as the condition of the Moron in chief is concerned Twitter is rife with speculation as there are rather contradictory reports. One thing is certain, he is being given all of the drugs available, whether licensed or not. Steroids to curb inflammation being the latest added to the mix. T
The disrespect for others health is just bottomless.
