Uninspired

Today is a rather uninspiring day and I have little to say other than that I was on calls from 8:00 through 17:00 non stop, which did not leave time for much else.

There was another torrential downpour around 16:30. Just before the sky turned almost black in the middle of what was a hot summer day. It was rather eerie; until the clouds burst open and turned our road into a river.

My lane today was booked for 19:00 and while that works well on a Friday when we go sail in the late afternoon, I find it is too late on a regular weekday. I think for next week I will try to go back to 13:00 or 18:00, since both of these are 45-minute slots as well and that is my ideal pool time. I do like the break in the day, which is what I have been doing over the past years anyway, take a swim break over lunch.

Now it is nice and cool outside and all my windows are open again, the air conditioning turned off, how peaceful it is without the constant humming. And no one has ventured outside to walk, bike or run.

News on the Virus front is pretty much the same. The debates in the US media on mask or no mask is ongoing, it is frankly tiering, given all the evidence and science. At the same time numbers continue their upward trajectory. The global tally today is 15 million and at 4.02 million, with 146k dead, the USA continues to hold 25% of market share. No other developed nation is performing this badly! Amidst this performance the latest discussion to sacrifice the elderly for the reopening of the economy is nothing but cynical, particularly knowing that young people can also become gravely ill and die.

News of the administrations plan to send out frederal assault troops to various democratically governed city is also very disspiriting and there are concerns that federal marshalls may be posted at polling stations in democratic states during the upcoming elections to deter voters. It is just unbelievable what this so called democracy engages in to suppress voters.
