Time Change

Overnight the clocks changed from summer back to wintertime. No one really knows what the “real” time without this change is, is it what is commonly know as summertime or the current time? We debated this over breakfast this morning with EM, her BF and J all of whom stayed over night following our elaborate fire pit Halloween celebrations yesterday, which ended with a political discussion between me and the BF, which needs to be continued at another point in time.

And yes, these two other teenagers, jointly with A constitute EM’s and hence my little bubble. Everyone is clear: no unmasked interactions outside of that. It was surprisingly light when I woke up this morning.

The kitchen clock said it was 9:30 and while making my morning coffee I figured I would need to feed everyone breakfast, which we had not really shopped for during our last grocery run. I did find six eggs, toast in the freezer, a red pepper and fortunately a bag of homegrown cherry tomatoes, so decided to make meneme; a Turkish breakfast favorite, where onions, bell pepper and tomatoes are sautéed and the eggs are beaten under the veggies. After dicing all the vegetables I retreated to my bedroom for my morning read, I even got a second coffee in before I felt the urge to get cooking and the first other human was in the kitchen when I arrived.

I was getting a bit stressed about time seeing I had a lane booked for 11:45, but alas, when checking the phone said 9:30. I had completely forgotten about the time change and suddenly had gained an hour, which made for a pleasant surprise. We had a fun breakfast, staying clear of politics. While the young people hung out afterwards, I grabbed my booked and returned to bed, but not before cancelling my swim. It was just so terribly unpleasant outside, and the long night left me exhausted.

We mainly mooched around the house. Only after ME took J home did I have the energy to shower and go to the shops to restock the very empty fridge. By what turned out to be 17:30 both EM and I felt like it was the middle of the night and time for bed. It was pitch dark outside. The downside of the time change. This darkness in the evenings will need some getting used too.

Winter is not even here yet and the expectation is that new infections will significantly increase the colder it gets, with Thanksgiving weekend likely starting the next peak, the results of which one would expect to see about ten days before Christmas, what a merry seasons when thousands of death will be reported. Currently 47k are hospitalized with COVID-19. Given these facts it is very sad to read that Dr Fauci is being sidelined

At the same time the orange Cheeto is going after doctors and nurses claiming they would diagnose COVID as cause of death only because they will receive more money for this than any other cause of death. Of course, this is yet more nonesense spewed from the WH and the American Association of Medical Professionals has come out to say as much. These nurses and doctors are risking their lives to save those infected, often times because those they treat follow the moron’s advice to not wear a mask, are now being mocked.

All this when total infections are at 9.4 million with 84k cases being added in the USA yesterday alone. Worldwide infections have reached 46.4 million.

Late last night I learned that EM’s BF and his entire family will be voting for Trump. This is inconceivable to me. This kid repeats all of the bullshit spewed on media. Like many people have other illnesses so did not really die of COVID, but their underlying medical conditions or that doctors inflate the numbers to get paid more. Sadly, it was too late and too much red wine had been consumed to have had a proper discussion to sway his mind for the upcoming election.

Fortunately, Maryland is solidly blue so his vote will not matter.
