It has been raining throughout the night an most of today. Currently there is a bit of a dry patch and EM and I have a two-hour slot at the Bethesda Pool for 15:00 as well as a one hour lap lane at 19:00. We ended up skipping the latter (cancelling though so someone else might enjoy the time) as only half the lanes were actually taken by 15:15, so we grabbed too and promised to leave should the rightful owners appear; well they did not so we got our 45 minutes of swimming before we headed over to the diving well. The water was warmer than the air and the pool super empty given the rain, which is odd, given one is wet when in the pool anyway and it is not really cold at 24C.
We had fun practicing synchronized dives and I attest we are improving. Unlike EM I can only do front and back dives, which is a little sad as synchronized flips would make for quite a show. Other than that, it was a quiet day at home.
I did not even cook as we just had leftovers once back from the pool while enjoying two more episodes of The Crown. It is kind of cool to watch a series on recent history, knowing I have been part of many of these events through the perspective of an onlooker and a student of histroy.
The news is more of the same: voter suppression, post office defunding to manipulate the election and the Virus. It is a sad state of affairs in this country. As the virus continues to advance (5.5 million in the USA today and 21.5 million globally), expertise is becoming less thought after by the administration as evidenced by the latest advisor on COVID response to the administration. The orange agent has now given preference to a doctor as chief advisor who has no clue about either public health or epidemiology, with Dr Fauci and Dr Birx now completely sidelined. And surprisingly after Kansas made mask wearing mandatory their cases dropped. Who would have thought? Oh yes, of course, this has been Dr. Fauci’s mantra, disregarded by the administration. It is just moronic
