To Buy Or Not To Buy

I have now sent to notes to the Listserv asking if anyone had a canopy tent I could borrow for Saturday. All I receive is deafening silence. I suppose that means people do not approve of me hosting friends outside. Oh well. I can now either hold my breath and hope that it will not rain on Saturday or I need to buy at least two canopy tents; and that at a time when I am trying to get rid of stuff rather than accumulate more!

What to do? is the question.

Especially since it has been pouring all day today. Beyond that it was a usual day in the age of Corona. School from home, work from home, daily swim. Not even cooking provides a welcome distraction as we are working our way through leftovers. Given we have had Turkey for three days now, we tackled the left over corn chowder with some lamb roast, which of course I managed to burn as I heated up the soup while on a call and yet again forgot all about it. At least I rescued it before it was charred, and the smoke detectors could go off.

For tomorrow I shall convert the remains of the Turkey into a ragout, which is normally cooked with chicken.

Even the news was uneventful today. President-elect Joe Biden is continuing to build out his cabinet and the virus news is the same old same old. It is spreading like crazy in the USA and many of friends are returning into more or less strict self-imposed lock downs; including my brilliant friend who is enforcing a strict lock down on the family.

We will isolate as of Sunday, when we head for the next COVID-19 test. Not that we are crazily out and about as it is. Maybe a brief dash to the supermarket and EM spending time with her BF, that’s it. After Sunday not even that. No grocery runs, no seeing people. The only exception I might make is practice in the park. That will depend on how numbers in MD evolve. Swimming will need to be exclusively in the outdoor pool for that week; even if it means freezing my behind of. I have found the least cold thing is to get out of the water, wrap into a towel and make a dash for the car and I shall reserve an extra large towel for that week.

Numbers in MD are rising, albeit not as fast as in the rest of the USA. Over the past seven days MD has seen an increase of 0.9% versus the 1.4% nationwide. Today the US reports a total of 13.97 million cases while the world knows of 63 million.
