Last night the NYT exploded a major bombshell. They have managed to access the tax returns of the President! They have published a I do not know how many page analysis of the past fifteen or so years of taxes filed by him. The news feeds are exploding and Twitter is having a field day of course as are all the political entities campaign against him or for Vice President Joe Biden. And it is bad. No 45 has not paid taxes at all for ten years before 2016 and total federal taxes paid in 2016 and 2017 were US$750 each year (and no, I did not omit any zeros here). He owes over 1.1billion to banks, most of which is due in the next few years and all his business ventures are hemorrhaging money. Tweets are suggesting he is looking towards Russia to bail him out, which would explain why he is so friendly with Mr. Putin. And still, I doubt this will hurt him with his loyal voter base, but maybe, just maybe it will swing the undecided. I have no idea how anyone can be undecided, but apparently there are enough to make a difference.
When running for president he said he could shoot someone on 5th Ave and it would not harm him. A very clever person tweeted today that if he had spend the entire time of his presidency on 5th Avenue and shot a person every 1.5 minutes the total number of dead Americans would be less (206.400) than those fallen victim to COVID-19 to date (209.642), now that is an impressive number, which I doubt even his base would have tolerated. Yet they tolerate the incredible number of Corona induced death, which are direct result of the Covidiot’s failed policies. Of the 33.2 million reported cases, 7.34 million are in the USA.
And as flu season begins people are concerned that new lock downs may be on the horizon. Grocery stores do not want to be caught unprepared again and have started stock piling inventory of dry foods and cleaning articles, including toilet paper, in their warehouses. Maybe we should stock up on flour and some other hard to get items. At the same time many achievements in the fight against poverty are seeing a reversal under the virus. I am shocked to read that in the richest country in the world 1 in 4 families is food insecure. Just begin to imagine how devasted poorer countries must be.
