After an active and beautiful day, I am not very inspired tonight. No idea why. As has become my Saturday routine, sadly going to change in a month, I kicked of the day with practice in the park Today was the first time I really enjoyed Jo practice as I am beginning to appreciate the diversity of the stick as a weapon. Practice was followed by two hours at the pool, where I spend the better part of 45 minutes swimming and another 20 or so enjoying a few dives. I had the diving well all too myself.
With nights getting cooler (14C) and public outdoor pools set to close on October 4th, this bliss is set to come to an end sooner rather than later. Already evenings are to chilly so sit out after 22:00. Soon it will be time for me to try my outdoor heating and get the blankets out. I am still hopeful temperatures will pick up again mid-September for a glorious Indian summer. On the way home I picked-up EM who I had dropped at her friend’s house in the morning, and we proceeded to make garlic bread, tomato salad and chicken kebabs for tonight’s Braai. We had a fun evening with our German-Turkish friends and now I am ready for bed.
But not before documenting the latest on the Corona front. As usual numbers keep rising. Of the 26.4 million global infections the USA is still firs with today 6.4 million cases reported.
While the WH keeps pushing for a vaccine to be licensed the pharma industry seems to have miraculously found some common sense. The big developers are preparing a joined initiative to not apply for licenses unless their vaccines have gone through all the tests and trials demanded by scientific rigor. Glad to note there are some adults out there.
Meanwhile results from the Russian vaccine are promising as scientific results have been disclosed for the first time. Side effects seem minor and the vaccine is proving to provide antibodies with a first and a booster shot given 21 days after the first shot. Maybe there is hope for our lives to revert to how they used to be.
